There are lots of sealions around right now, posturing and staking territory on rocky island outcroppings. There are always the velvet-eyed seals, slightly shy but curious, and Dahl's porpoise pods have been spotted several times recently.
It's always a good time to get out on the water and see the sights... and now is a good time to start planning a summer holiday. The resident orcas return to this area usually around June 26th, with transient whales spotted randomly throughout the year.
